Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is developed by Sonic Team and NOW Production. Sega is the official publisher of Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. The game system design is Kenjiro Morimoto. The game art director is Hideaki Morya. The writer of the game script are Masahiko Shiraishi, Shiro Maekawa, Hirashi Miyamoto. The composers of the game include Tomonori Sawada, Kenichi Tokoi, Fumie Kumatani, and Hideaki Kobayashi. Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity can be run on the Playstation 2 and Wii platform. In Japan, the game was published on the 17th January 2008. In North America, the game was released on the 8th January 2008. In Europe, the game was first debuted on 22nd February 2008. The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated the gate as suitable for all ages. The menu and characters are controlled by the gamepad and wii remote.

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity is the fifth racing game that Sega has released in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The four predecessors of racing video game include Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic R and Sonic Riders. Both the original Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity games are available on the PS2 platform.

According to the story plot, mysterious objects drop from the sky and land into different areas on earth. One of the mysterious objects happened to land of the city of the future called Monopole. As a result, the robots on Monopole become activated by themselves. After that, an announcer informs that the robots of Monopole has run wildly against Sonic, Tails and Knuckles while they are examining the meteorite. As Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are escaping, the MeteorTech robots suddenly appear and attack them. The meteorite robots attack them because they want the stone that is in their possession. When they come to the 300th floor, they encounter with more robots from Meteortech. Sonic though that they are doomed until the meteorite unleash its power and stop the enemies. When Sonic discover the new found power, he flies and landed on the ground with ease.

The main characters in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity include Sonic the hedgehog, Miles 'Tails' Prower, Knuckles the Echidna, Jet the Hawk, Wave the Swallow, Storm the Albatross, Amy Rose and Dr. Ivan Robotnik.

There are several game modes which you can play including story mode, normal race, time attack, and survival mode. The playable characters in the story mode are Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Wave, and Storm the Albatross. As you proceed through the story mode, you will find out more about the ancient stone called Ark of the Cosmos. If you are a first time player, you will be prompt for tutorial that will teach you how to play this game. In the normal race mode, you will be able to race around the track with your favorite characters. In the time attack race, the player must obtain the fastest record and race with other characters in the World rankings. The survival mode has three game play styles including survival relay, survival ball and survival battle. The survival relay game play allows 2 ' 4 players whereas the survival ball and survival battle allows the 1 ' 4 players. In the survival relay, you will race around the track by using the Extreme gear as batons. In the survival ball, you must use the gravity control to shoot all the balls within a limited time. In the Survival battle, you will use the gravity control to slam the objects against each other.
